Personal Information

Jiafu Tang, is currently ChangJiang Scholarship Chair Professor and Head with Department of System Engineering, School of Information Science and Engineering, and serving as vice director of the State Key Laboratory of Synthetic Automation of Process Industry with Northeastern University (NEU), in Shenyang, P. R. of China and Panel Member of the Evaluation of projects for National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) of China.

Since 2002, he is awarded several honors, includes The Award of Program of the National Innovative Research Teamwork of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC, 2007), The Award of the National Talented Younger Scientist of NSFC (2006), The New Century Excellent Talents in University of MOE of China (2004), Excellent Younger Teachers of MOE, and One of the Tenth of Talented Younger Intellectuals of Shenyang.

He was born in Hunan province, a province of southern in China, in 1965. He received the B.Sc. degree in Mathematics from Hunan Normal University, Changsha, China, in 1989, and the M.Sc. degree and Ph D both in Control Theory and Systems Engineering from Northeastern University, Shenyang, China, in 1992 and 1999 respective. Dr Tang had experiences of visiting at City University of Hong Kong as Research Assistant and Senior Research Associate in 1998 and 2000 respectively, and working at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as Research Fellow in 2002, 2004 and 2006. Since 1996, he has been teaching five courses on Operations Research, Elementary Techniques of Computer Software, Management Information Systems, Systems Engineering & Decision Analysis and Fuzzy Modeling & Optimization for under graduate and postgraduate students. As a principle investigator or co-investigator, he supervised and conducted 8 projects including: The National Innovative Research Teamwork Program funded by NSFC, The national Talented Younger Scientist program funded by NSFC, The New Century Excellent Talents Program funded by of MOE of China Youth Program and General Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 863 High Tech. Project of China, Distinguished Youth Teacher Program funded by the MOE in China, in the areas of fuzzy modeling and intelligent optimization for complex industrial systems, Operations Management and Logistics Optimization, Product Engineering and Quality optimization for NPD. He was awarded the Second Level of Science and Technology Progress Award from the Ministry of Education of China in 1998, the excellent Ph D dissertation from Liaoning Provincial Government in 2000 and the Excellent Youth Teacher Program from the Ministry of Education in China in 2002. He authored two Chinese books in Scientific House of China and China Machine Press in 2000 and 2001. Since 1996, he has published more than 100 papers in international and local journals, among which 28 are in refereed international journal, including Int J of Production Research, Fuzzy Sets and Systems, Transportation Science, Int J of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Computers & Operations Research, Computers & Mathematics with Applications, etc. He has been a referee for Int. J. of Computers & Operations Research, IEEE Trans on SMC, Fuzzy Sets and Systems.
